The Cooper Companies' Women's Health Care Unit Acquires Research Instruments

PLEASANTON, Calif., Dec. 17, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Cooper Companies, Inc. (NYSE:COO) today announced that CooperSurgical, its women's health care unit, has acquired Research Instruments Limited, a specialist manufacturer and supplier of in-vitro fertilization (IVF) medical devices and systems headquartered in the UK. The transaction is valued at approximately $51 million and is expected to be neutral to earnings per share in fiscal 2016 and accretive thereafter, excluding one-time charges and deal-related amortization. Research Instruments had trailing twelve month revenues of approximately $17 million .

Commenting on the transaction, Robert S. Weiss, Cooper's president and chief executive officer said, "The acquisition of Research Instruments further strengthens our industry-leading IVF business through the addition of several successful products within the consumables, software and hardware areas."
